About
Welcome to The Gray. It is the universe, the nexus, full of worlds and characters and gods. It is a place of rest, a place of war, a place of human, machine, divine. It is a place undefinable, but deeply rooted in consciousness.
The Gray is the nexus in which all my stories live. Here, you can explore the mythos. I welcome you.
I am Marco Blasco, a writer with a deep love for fiction and the art of writing and storytelling. Originally from the United States, I have called rural Japan home for the last five years. This website and publication are meant to share my writings with the world, both in the form of fiction and nonfiction.
Stay tuned for more updates about my work in progress novel, codename The Black, a cyberpunk/nanopunk inspired story which explores the themes of humanity in an imperfect world, divinity, and tech.
Currently, I am querying my debut novel APOCRYPHON. Here's the pitch:
Miyo will destroy the world. And the only person who can stop her is the one who promised he never would.
I am seeking representation for APOCRYPHON, my 88,000-word adult science-fiction debut novel. Think the atmospheric cyberpunk of Neuromancer meets the civilization-ending stakes of The Three-Body Problem, wrapped in a modern, character-driven tragedy.
Years ago, Miyo and Noah were inseparable. But the world is wrong, this Japan where cyberspace and reality have merged, where people stagnate with digital miasma, and the Shrift monks cleanse them and send them to the abyss of the ruling AI. Miyo began to stagnate when her mother was taken. Then Noah was recruited by the Shrift. Before he left, he promised her: No matter what they made him do, he would never cleanse her.
As the years pass, Miyo discovers that she can rebuild reality inside the ever‑expanding matrix of cyberspace. She discovers that she is something more than human, something closer to architect god. To free humanity and herself from the crippling digital miasma imposed by the ruling AI, she plans to overwrite the existing world, a plan that would erase eight billion lives.
The Shrift will try to stop her, and Noah's promise will be tested--cleanse the only soul he’s ever loved to save this world, or keep his promise and behold the destruction.
